*clings to Martha*

It's a year ago today that I started my job. Wow, it feels like a lot longer, and just like yesterday at the same time. I was remembering my first day at work today and recalled how I went of out of my way to get the new edition of the Radio Times to read on the train for it had Penis Face Dalek Sec on the front cover. This then reminded me that, apparently, we should be having a Who front cover on next week's edition. This surely means Dr Martha Jones on the front, no?
I really need episode 4 to hurry up as I feel like I am slightly cheating on ma Marfa with all of my Donna love. Working on my Martha/Romana post for the rare ships month on
who_otp has reminded me how much I love this woman, so that's good. Reading the reactions of the New Found Donna Lovers/Martha Haters on the DWF had somewhat harshed ma squee, I have to admit. However, comparisons were always going to be made between both the character and the actress. What really annoys me is the inability of some people to realise that they are both (all in fact, if we are including Rose/Bille in this) are different characters and different actresses. People are saying how Freema would never have coped with the some of the scenes that Catherine had in TFoP. Of course, that's a maybe. The most important thing to remember is that the character of Martha would have reacted differently to Donna. That's the wonderful thing about new companions.
I'm loving the Doctor and Donna relationship at the moment 'cos it's different to anything we have seen in Nu Who. She challenges the Doctor a bit more I think, that is true. But the most important thing is that he has learned from his time with both Rose and Martha. TFoP would not have been the same episode if Martha was with him because he was a different man back then. Ten's all grown up now, and has learned a lot from his travels with his two former companions. He's doing right by Donna, and to quote his previous carnation, 'isn't that fantastic?'
I have such high hopes for the rest of the series right now, I can't tell you. Some of you may think I'm being naive in trusting Rusty. However, this is the man that made ELO a key factor in an episode of Doctor Who; I don't think I've got it in me to hate him.
So, erm, yes. The point of this post was to sort of say how much I still love Martha and how I can't wait for her return. I'm not sure that's come across all that well (I have had four pints on a school night), but I miss her geeky ways, her subtle humour, her arse, her everything, basically. Roll on April 26th, is what I say. My telly might explode with the sheer awesome, but I'll still have a smile on my face.

Date: 2008-04-15 11:21 pm (UTC)That sounds so perfectly like her. =D That's probably how that first argument would've gone if it were her.
Dude, this game is fun when it's not about putting anybody down.
