I just saw Sweeney Todd. I was part of a production of this about ten years ago and just hearing the first song brought back all my love for this musical in one hit.

I was pretty sure JD would kick arse as Mr. T but I had my doubts of Helena Bonham-Carter. In my head, Mrs Lovett was a slightly older and no where near as buxom. But dude, she totally worked. Loved her voice as well.

This also pwnd the BBC adaptation of this from a couple of years ago. This is coming from a Ray Winstone fangirl here, so that's high praise indeed.

One small thing, though. What was the point of Tony Head in this? Srsly. I had no idea he was in it, so when he popped up I was pleasantly surprised. But one line? K, so he's not quite A-list but he deserves more than that, surely.

I should probably point out that I'm a bit of a musical fangirl so I'm now prancing about my bedroom singing 'The Worst Pies In London' and will continue to do so for approximately 24 hours. Kthnxbai.

Tony Head had a larger part, but filming was delayed when Johnny Depp's daughter became seriously ill. His part was cut to that small cameo.

I loved the movie and have listened to the soundtrack repeatedly. "A Little Priest" gives me the giggles.

Ah, OK. That makes sense.

Serves me right for paying no attention to the press for this film.

I have got to get me a babysitter so I can go see that. I saw the original Bdwy production with Angela Lansbury when I was in high school, and the recent revival, and I love that show to pieces.

THANK YOU!

I couldn't, for the life of me, think of who played Mrs Lovett originally on Broadway.

And yes, it's defo worth going to see.

I saw it on Friday!! OH the songs, and the casual gruesomeness...and JD singing in a London accent, mate. My favourite's still gotta be the opener though...altogether now "There's no place, like LON-don"...and 'Pretty Women'.

Oh it was tragic and brilliant and creepy and disgusting and great. You may have guessed that I liked it, I suppose.

It was a case of UNEXPECTED ASH! Which caused actual vocal squee from me (much to the other half's shame) because I didn't know he was going to be in it.

I HAD NO CLUE. I know lots of rl peeps who squeed as well. Well, they would have if they knew what squee actually meant but you know what I mean.
