So, after having a look through [livejournal.com profile] malaleen's Peter Carlisle/Martha fic last night, I woke with a desire to rewatch Blackpool.

I also realised that I had no Peter Carlisle icons. SHAME ON ME. S'OK though, for I have fixed that.

The only thing that annoyed me about this show was how quickly Peter fell in love with Natalie. I know it shouldn't and it's not as if I didn't believe it towards the end and I was rooting for them all the way, but it just seemed a little shoe-horned in to begin with.

That's all that bothered me though, cos any programme that has the song 'The Gambler' in it is win, yes? I think that might be my favourite musical number apart from 'The Boy With A Thorn In His Side' obvs.

And if anyone didn't get that it was The Son What Dunnit from like the first/second episode wasn't paying enough attention.

Ooh, ooh also, Peter Carlise is a bit of a bastard. AMIRITE?

It sounds like I'm moaning and I'm really not cos I love TV shows that are completely on crack.

Plus, there really should be more Tennant sexin' on ma telly.

I think this: Peter Carlise is a bit of a bastard, explains this: how quickly Peter fell in love with Natalie

May have been subconscious, but I think a big part of his immediate pull to Natalie (other than her being rather hot), was twisted up in his immediate distaste for Ripley and the thrill of sticking it to him through his wife.

I think that changed once he had more chance to know her, and it really did become about her.

Also The Gambler is pretty much made of awesome. There is no bad to Tennant rocking out with an ice cream cone. I keep expecting it to get less entertaining and it never does.

I also didn't think it was possible to be jealous of an ice cream before watching this show.

That soon changed.

Eh, I maintain that the Peter/Natalie relationship ended soon after the mini-series. See, I take Peter falling in love so quickly is because he's so damn intense about everything, including relationships. To the point of doing shit that seriously fucks with a relationship.

Which is why I can see problems for him and Rose at first because I can see her hiding the fact that he looks like Ten, and not having problems with Martha, because she'd be up front, but he'd be uber possessive of her in front of Ten, cause they could meet.

It did. I am so sure of it, that was one doomed relationship.

Can't beat that! Is it true DT screwed up at one point and they left it in?

I remember reading that there's a moment when DT is in the background, he moves left when everyone else moves right -- or vice versa.

I really do need to re-watch Blackpool - but then I've got so many other DT films/shows that I've not watched ONCE yet that I'm kind of holding off on re-watching Blackpool... *sigh* If only I wasn't tied up with David Tennantwriting fic in my spare time!!

"Learners" could have been funnier - but DT was good in it (of course)...

Blackpool is probably the main reason that I'm glad DT doesn't use his own accent in Dr Who. Because Peter Carlisle is definitely a bit of a bastard, but every time he opens his mouth my critical faculties get stampeded by my fangirl squee, and I know the same would apply to the Doctor as well.

As far as the songs go, "These Boots Are Made For Walking" is definitely my favourite.
