My answers to those of you who asked questions. I rambled on some and got didn't with others. Sorry.

Is there a fic cliche or generally-derided genre that you really enjoy?

I wouldn't say that there is a cliche that I particularly enjoy but I certainly have my guilty pleasures. I have been known to re-read certain fics over and over again even though they're not that good just because it hits one of my kinks (I don't mean kink kinks, but you know). But hey, we all do that, don't we? DON'T WE?

Actually, that said, I have to admit I'm a sucker for fics where everything the Master has ever done is to get the Doctor's attention. Of course, the rules are different when it's your OTP, aren't they, so anything goes.

What are your top 5 companions, in order of preference?

I'm totally allowed to be unpredictable here, aren't I? Good.

OK, here goes: 1)Martha Jones; 2) Romana II; 3) Jo Grant; 4) Harry Sullivan; 5)Romana I

No explanation requested so there will be none given. I likes what I likes. Of course there are several others that nearly made that list. Thoughts and OMG ELITIST comments are all welcome.

How do you feel about who_anon?

I have no issue with the place. It's not perfect and it does attract some idiots. What I hate is the assumption from people who don't read it all that often is that everyone on there is an idiot. They're really, really not. Personally, I check it regularly as I find a lot of the discussion on there to be funny and informative. It's a great place for spoilers and wonderful, wonderful picspams. It's basically replaced the DWF for me. After a while you get to see where the wanky threads are and I always stay well clear of them. It annoys me when friends of mine are discussed in a negative way and wank ensues, and I am aware of the fact that this has happened today and I am still being postive about the meme.

Anyway, it's nearly a year old and doesn't show signs of dying out. I can't see it going anywhere soon.

Ashes to Ashes vs Life on Mars.

EVIL EVIL QUESTION. BAH.

I've thought about this and, well, they are on a level pegging for me, which is a boring answer, I know, but let me explain via a ramble. I rewatched LoM over Christmas and I thought that was bestest. Now I'm watching A2A again in preparation for series 2 (OMG HURRY UP) and I'm pretty sure I had this big goofy grin on my face all the way through it and thought exactly the same thing.

I think the important thing to remember is A2A would not exist if it weren't for LoM. LoM was so original (well, as original as a 70s cop show can be in 2006) and nothing will change that. So many themes are used again in A2A and it's the same basic formula.

Shipping wise - which, let's face it, is what most of my fandom obsessions boil down to - I ship more actively in A2A than in LoM. Sam/Gene is good in an I Am Shallow sort of way but that's all I got out of it. Sam/Annie was where it's at for me. Oh, Annie. I love Annie. I miss her so much. You know, when I rewatched A2A 1x1 the other night, when Ray tells Alex that Sam's dead, my first thought was for Annie. They totes had kids by then and were married. OH MY HEART, HOW IT BREAKS.

Alex/Gene on the other hand? Fucking hell, I ship it good. And you know what? I wish you'd all stop hiding the good fic from me. The looks these two give each other make my insides do funny things.

Basically, I care about the two main characters so much - Hello, Alex, can I be you when I grow up plese? Oh hi, Sam, can I take you home and look after you please? - I really can't decide.

Actually, I keep wanting to write A2A > LoM because eighties > seventies, but it feels so... wrong. Just call me chicken and be done with it.

What are your thoughts on yaoi LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMS?

I'll keep this brief. Whether they're canon or not doesn't really matter now that the planet to which they belonged doesn't exist. So, Romana and the Doctor will have to be having the sex to repopulate, which is the only thing that's relevant, obviously.

Oooh. I love lists in general, but top 5 companion lists are a perverse pleasure for me. =D That is a fairly unpredictable but at the same time makes-a-lot-of-sense list.

Oh, definitely, mine too. It's awful hard not to read the Master's behavior as "Doctor, Doctor, look at me! Look at meeeee!"

*coughs*

ASHES TO ASHES IS BETTER LALALALALALALA. Does LoM have the Magnificent Breasts of Keeley? I THINK NOT. :P

I totally agree with you on the LoM/A2A thing. Because LoM is the original and is wonderful, it didn't really delve much into the "shipper" side of thing. A little with Sam/Gene, and a moreso with Sam/Annie, but even then it was mostly left underdeveloped. The Alex/Gene relationship is so central to A2A, and it makes it so brilliant for me.

I love the fact that Gene is so central to it all as well and it's not just about the person who has travelled back in time is in a coma.

Precisely. The show wouldn't have been nearly so successful without the presence of the Gene Genie.
