UNEXPECTED ROSE TYLER did not upset me. At all. Although I am rather scared about fandom's reaction, though. It's just made me fucking intruiged as to what the shit is going on this year. OMG. OMG.

Anyhoo, other stuff happened, too. Most of it was good, yes. Ten 'n' Donna shall be winsome.

Acknowledgements of Martha's awesomeness, and of just how much he messed it up, check. Donna being exactly the MATE he needs now, check. Lighthearted romp, check. Unexpected Rose being actually unexpected and mysterious, check. And most of all: Ten growing and learning and trying out new ways of getting a companion! My heart it doth burst with pride.

My friends list seems to have a number of Donna-haters on it, but I thought she was pitched pretty much perfectly. The "just tell me what is it that you need" moment was glorious, and hopefully a sign of things to come.

Dead chuffed at the Martha mentions, and I'm really hopeful of a bit of companion bonding when Donna and Martha meet now, although I suspect the phrase "but seriously, did you really used to fancy HIM?" may crop up at some point.

Unexpected Rose was intriguing - I have a theory, but it'd probably cause wank, so I'm going to keep schtum for the moment.

I just know there are people who won't be happy about that last scene. I understand why, but I didn't mind seeing her. I have to remind myself that I liked Rose's character (mostly) and it's the fanon version of her I don't like. Generally, I don't like my squee being harshed.

I have to constantly remind myself that I do not hate Rose; it's the batshit fen that give me hives. I was genuinely glad to hear of her return (and am interested to see how it fits within the story) and I was very surprised to find myself squeeing and flailing at unexpected Rose!
