magicallawI was thinking to myself today that I should get a football icon or something but then realised that no one is going to make icons of Sunderland, are they? BAH!
Anyway, the new season starts today and I am looking forward to reading about a sport other than swimming, gymnastics, horses playing darts or whatever event we're up to in the Olympics. Well, the athletics has started now which is what it's all about, really. As Michael Johnson said on the telly the other day, "I've been so bored watching all this." WORD, MICHAEL. WORD. Also, Michael Phelps is surely some sort of super human creature and should therefore not be allowed to compete. Right?

I love Sunderland. Haven't really been following them (or the Premiership at all) since my return to the U.S. four years ago (and it nearly broke my heart when SuperKev ditched), but I'm a supporter.
My first ever footie match was Sunderland at Upton Park (where the lads spanked West Ham 2-0, thankyouverymuch).
In a pub after the match (the Black Lion, I think it was, in Plaistow), some guy gave me his Sunderland pin (which I cherish to this day), and another literally gave me the shirt off his back (the "Reg Vardy" has long since peeled off, but it is SO my all-purpose go-to shirt).
ahem.
Ok, drifting back into the shadows now.
