So yeah, I really need to rewatch that in order to actually process it properly, but I do have this to say:

1. THE DOCTORDONNA FTW. Who else wants blue!Doctor/brown!Doctor/DoctorDonna fic?

2. Um, that wasn't a happy ending for D/R shippers, I don't care what people tell me.

3. K-FUCKING-9, BITCHES. *does happy dance*

4. JACK/MARTHA WITH HAND HOLDING AND BONUS MICKEY SDLGKJSD;LKF\NSDLKNFLK

5. The hugging in the TARDIS was the most brilliant thing ever and when I can, I'm going to cap the proof of my brand new OTP and my OT3 come to think of it. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

6. When the Doctor walks into the kitchen to say goodbye to Donna... NO FUCKING WORDS. And that is all I can say on the matter for now because, holy shit, that was so painful.

ETA: From browsing the flist and such, am I the only person in fandom who enjoyed that?

Did Sarah Jane get to do anything really cool? Was I right about our not seeing Gwen and Ianto again?

She threatened to blow up the Crucible with a bomb made out of a star. I can't remember what it was called.

Nope. We saw em again, protected by a time bubble Tosh created.

SHE MAGICED UP K9 FROM NOWHERE WHICH WAS PROBABLY THE COOLEST THING IN THE EPISODE.

Gwen and Ianto were in it briefly, and yes they're still alive.

DUDE. SARAH WENT FROM TRYING TO AVOID GETTING KILLED BY DALEKS TO TALKING THEM INTO BEING HER CHAUFFEURS AND MAKING THEM THINK IT WAS THEIR IDEA. I DIED A THOUSAND DEATHS OF GREAT EPIC SARAH LOVE.

No! I liked, like, nearly all of it! It was just Donna getting mindwiped that absolutely destroyed me. DONNNAAAAAAA!

You are right about #2 on your list, though. I hope the Doctor/Rose shippers were happy with it, but I don't think that was a happy ending for them at all. (You are right about ALL of your list, too, of course.)

I've seen one shipper very happy and one who really, really isn't so I think reaction will be mixed. I think what sucked is that no one in that scene looked happy. At all. OK, there was snoggins but, it was all very awkward which is probably why it didn't annoy the hell out of me.

What you said. Happy for Rose, yes. Sort of. But oh my God I wept for the Doctor. Even thinking about it makes me tear up. Couldn’t they have let him be happy?

(And absolutely agreed about the Doctor’s farewell to Donna; he’s all alone again, poor sod.

I enjoyed it right up until the ending, which I hate with the passion of a million burning suns and stuff because of what happened to Donna. Also the earlier bits which were fun to watch at the time are made of tissue paper so I have a horrible feeling they will fall apart on being-thought-about.

Oh I imagine there are a ton of plot holes and that none of it made sense, but that doesn't usually bother me to be honest.

And yes, Donna. I didn't hate the ending, but as I said, it was painful to watch.

I liked it, even if the science was utterly ludicrous, the plot contained Rusty's lifetime quota of deus ex machina elements, and I'm kind of angry about what happened to Donna. I might have gotten a wee bit sniffly when Wilf was saying goodbye to the Doctor, and the downbeat ending with Emo Doctor all alone in the TARDIS just about killed me. But this episode far exceeded my expectations ... though maybe that's just a testament to how far I'd lowered them.

I would say I enjoyed it for the most part. The companion stuff were the bits that made it for me - Rose saying Martha was good during the Osterhagen stuff, the threefold man of Caan's prediction being Brown Ten, Blue Ten and Donna, everying hugging everyone in the TARDIS after Earth was returned, and definitely Jack and Martha walking away from Ten hand-in-hand (I have shipped them so VERY heartily since Utopia), plus yay for Mickey being back in our universe and probably joining TW with Martha!

And yes, oh YES, on your #6. I was wobbling a bit there at the end with that. Donna came so far, and was so very very awesome, and became perhaps the most important companion because she was a freaking TIME LORD and 1/3 Doctor... and then, it's all gone, and she's shouty, careless pre-Runaway Bride Donna again. SO SAD.

And I agree about the ending with Brown Ten/Blue Ten/Rose not being happy. None of them looked okay with what was happening, but I think for Rose and human Ten at least, it might turn out okay. I feel happy for Rose. Do NOT ask me why, I'm at a loss. But I feel glad for her, because I've long thought that Ten loved her but knew his duty as a Time Lord was more important, so he held back. Now here's a human Ten that has no such duty, and can give her that romantic side to himself. It's certainly not perfect, and it's more than a bit twisted, and it's definitely heartbreaking for our Tet.

But it's weird, because technically the was four-fold for a minute because Jenny is really just a recalibration of him. At the moment he's three-fold because of him, human!Ten and Jenny.

I kept wondering if they'd forgotten that.

I enjoyed it soooo much, and you are right that was no happy ending for Ten/Rose shippers - Rose went out weak (more on that in my journal)and everyone else went out strong. *sigh* I am a TR shipper and i am in pain but kinda happy she got some kind of fake happy ending.

And as for DOCTORDONNA - they are win and I am editing a tribute series this week. (like the ten/martha series I did last year) As soon as I can bear to watch it again.

Oh, I loved it. Donna was my most favouritest Companion of New Who, so that ending was just....guh. SO SAD!!!

And yes I agree with Doctor/Rose ending not being a happy one. There was something so sad about it, probably because not one of those peopel wanted things to turn out the way it did (well, except maybe Blue!Ten, though even he wasn't too happy with beign left behind I don't think).

And as to Brown!Doctor/Blue!Doctor/DoctorDonna. LOL!! A OT3some in the making that :P

And because I can't help it *does happy K-9 dance of joy* Loved that part!

4) THE HANDHOLDING OMG AND THE JACK AND MICKEY BICKERING OF LOOOOVE AND OMG.
5) SO CUTE.
6) I KNOW. IT'S KILLING ME. His respective last moments with his best friend, on one occasion she's screaming and sobbing, and on the other occasion she doesn't give a shit who he is...*bawls*

I liked it. There was a hell of a lot of wtf random in it, but I had a lot of fun and was sufficiently moved.

Also here from [livejournal.com profile] who_daily - and no, you're not the only one. I really liked it - although the last five minutes or so ripped my heart out and stomped on it. I don't give a crap about Rose and "her" Doctor - what happened to Donna was far more tragic.

I think they were really on the right track with Donna this season- a companion who improves the Doctor by being around, who undergoes personal growth, whose family doesn't constantly try to get him killed, and who doesn't go all IN LURV with him. She was really useful, unlike Rose, had no angst at all, unlike everybody, and was generally just fantastic. She was the best idea they ever had, and they killed her beyond belief and beyond what could be considered humane- and they wrote themselves into a future corner. She's still out there, so that she could be brought back potentially- but not without some pretty major fail happening.
