I CAN'T STOP SHIPPING THEM

Arggh, I’m so annoyed with myself. It’s my own fault really, I watched the shippiest of shippy episodes the other day – Smith & Jones, Shakespeare, Gridlock, Lazarus and 42. Followed shortly by the shippiest of shippy fics - The Third of December by flaignhan (I know it’s been rec’d all over the shop but you must read it people). Then, today I stumble upon these icons by sarah531, which are amazing BTW. But look at the Martha one’s!!!! How shippy can you get?

I thought this ship had hit an iceberg – I was wrong.

So my question, faithful flist, shall I continue to embrace this ship or shall I hunt down some good Ten/Donna or Ten/Master so I can get over it?

And yes, "The Third of December" is fantastic - as are "Drop" and "Body Heat" - I really wish *I* had written them !!

Become a multi-shipper like I have. You'll feel more sane and be more happy in the long run. Besides, there's nothing wrong with shipping characters that don't completely fit into the text. It's all about the chemistry between the two on screen.

Why abandon ship? Just acknowledge that it's probably not the canon future, and have fun with what you do have, which is enough subtext and UST that had it been any other ship in any other fandom we wouldn't even have been debating whether or not to ship them. But hey, you may as well read Ten/Donna and Ten/Master while you're at it - multishipping is the only sane way to go with this fandom. ;)

Gah ... abandon the ship? Nonononono ... it's like malaleen and evilgeniuslady say - you just play with what you can see on screen. I don't care what RTD said, David and Freema gave the Doctor and Martha some smoking hot chemistry, and to ignore that is frankly a real waste.

Heck. I shipped Ten/Rose, once upon a time. I've always been open to new ships. But don't make me give up my shiny Ten/Martha!

Simple: Do what feels good. And remember: It's not about 1 tru luv 4evah. Also: no matter what some folks may say, it's not like Doctor/Rose was a cut-and-dried case of shipping, either.

Besides, what IS shipping? Sex? Love? Friendship? If you write a fic in which the characters tie each other up and drip hot wax on each other, is that shipping? If they have a cozy chat? Spy on each other masturbating? Go ice skating on their birthdays? It's a meaningless term anyway.
