Apparently doing nothing = post a meme. Sorry about that, guys. But this is a music meme that I have not done before. So, have at it!

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

under the cut )

And yes, I've cheated because apparently I like far too many songs that have the title in the first line.

So, [ profile] picspammy are having their 'Best of 2008' challenge for December, where people make picspams of their favourite TV moments, films, books etc. Wanting to do something a little different, I decided I would make one of my favourite songs for 2008. Unfortunately my memory is rubbish, but my Last.FM page has kindly informed me of my most listened to songs of the year. So, I present to you...

It's officially Christmas because Wizard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day is on the radio. Plus I have three days left of work before the end of the year - I have a feeling I won't be doing a great deal in the office today, though. *pulls party poppers*

Yeah, screw the Credit Crunch. I'm totally getting a Barclaycard if it means I get to do this. Also, what an absolute tune.

LOVEFiLM has a nasty habit of not sending me my dvds in the order I requested them. I am praying to pretty much anyone who will listen that they send me the second disc of The Lakes because se;pfojsaed;f\rljaedfl;kdj. Holy shit, I haven't watched these since they were first broadcast, like, ten years ago or something and they are killing me with sheer awesome. Plus, it has music by Cast in, especially that one song that makes me all emo about Euro 96. YES I AM STILL ALLOWED TO GET UPSET ABOUT FOOTBALL TOURNAMENTS THAT TOOK PLACE OVER A DECADE AGO. *cries*

So I have my fingers and toes crossed that I gets whats want I want in the mail today and I can continue watching. Plus, John Simm is offically made of sex.

A meme from my friendsfriends page EVERYWHERE, I TELL YOU.

1. Open a music player.
2. Go to 'all music'/'library'.
3. Hit shuffle/repeat/randomise.
4. Find photos of the first 15 artists/bands that come up (no repeats and no cheating).
5. Have people guess who the artists/bands are.
6. Paste this in your journal and do it too, so I can have fun guessing as well.

Picspammins under the cut )

Have at it, peeps!

1. I've spent the majority of the weekend reading Now We Have A Map Of The Stars by [ profile] zauberer_sirin. WHY DID NONE OF YOU TELL ME HOW GOOD IT IS? EH? YOU ALL FAIL. Except that I think maybe one or two of you may have mentioned it and that I've only just gotten round to reading it. Well, it's so amazing. It's Martha/Master set after LotTL and it's fast becoming my personal canon.
3. I am very tempted to watch last night's Confidential because [ profile] marah_sarie tells me that it has Tennant completely geeking out over Deadly Assassin and WHY WOULD YOU NOT WANT TO WATCH THAT?
4. The new Coldplay album has a song called 42 on it. When I read this it made me squee for lots of reasons. However, listening to it makes me wish I could vid or something because it's all sorts of perfect and includes the lyrics:

Those who are dead
Are not dead
They're just living in my head

And since I fell
For that spell
I am living them as well

Time is so short
And I'm sure
There must be something more

Those who are dead
Are not dead
They're just living in my head

And since I fell
For that spell
I am living them as well

Time is so short
And I'm sure
There must be something more

You thought you might be a ghost
You thought you might be a ghost
You didn't get to heaven but you made it close
You didn't get to heaven but you made it close

Oh, God, it just works on so many levels for the Doctor. *gets a bit emo*
5. There are rumours that possible 'Turn Left' spoilers )
magicallaw: (classic who: three/master)
Please pay no attention to the title of this post; it's lyrics to the new Elbow song which has completely ATED MY BRAIN.

[ profile] fandomsecrets is good at reminding me that other things exist that aren't DW, so I'm currently reading Twilight. Sshh, it's not that bad. Well, it took me a while to get in to because it sort of reminded me of the Point Horror books I used to read when I was a kid and I really struggled to get past that. Anyway, Bella and Edward are, like, talking now and stuff so it's actually quite interesting.

I did, however, totally give up on Little Dorrit. So I fail at being edumacated. Meh. My workload means I really only have time to read on the train and my brain is never in gear enough at that time in the morning so it was never going to work out really, was it?
magicallaw: (Spaced: Tim n Daisy)
So tonight I was acted like a proper girl and went to the cinema to see Sex and the City. Fucking hell it was good. Seriously. I wasn't even that invested in the tv series. I mean, I'd watch it if I was in and it was on but that was about it. I also acted like a complete girl by crying for pretty much half of it. I do that sometimes.

Also I see that the new Coldplay album has been leaked on the internets. NO THANKS. I think this is the one time where I want to wait for my copy to arrive in the post because it's just too special. I WISH IT WOULD HURRY UP THOUGH.

ETA: Spoilers for SatC in the comments.

Because I just re-watched and re-read 'High Fidelity': A Top Five Meme.

Stolen from [ profile] rosengirl:

Comment to this post with a subject for a top five (ships, songs, books, etc) you would like to see me answer. I will post my answers in the comments. Be as specific or as broad as you'd like.

Also, not that I was tagged or anything, but here's my list of ten fictional characters I would like to sleep with:

1. The Doctor (Fourth, Fifth and Tenth)
2. Peter Carlisle
3. Gene Hunt (more so in Ashes to Ashes, it has to be said)
4. Sam Tyler
5. Simon (Teachers)
6. Adam Carter (Spooks)
7. Howard Moon (Boosh)
8. Tim (Spaced)
9. Tom Quinn (Spooks)
10. Brian (Teachers - WHAT?)

Psst. Look at what music I'm listening to. WHAT THE SHIT IS HAPPENING TO ME? Usually when this track comes on iTunes I just skip it. TODAY I WAS COMPELLED TO LISTEN. O_o
magicallaw: (A2A: bolly/guv)
Similar to the movie meme from last week, but with Music. Hooray.

Erm, can't remember who I snagged this from. But I definitely saw it. I didn't make it up. Swears.

1: Put your music player on shuffle.
2: Post the first line from the first 15 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
3: Strike Italicize through the songs when someone guesses both artist and title correctly.
4: For those who are guessing -- looking the lyrics up on a search engine is CHEATING!
5: If you like the game post your own journal.

Behind the cut, man )
magicallaw: (LoM: Gene - The Guv)
I can't tell you how much I want Alex's wardrobe. However, I'm not entirely convinced a Detective Inspector would wear this sort of gear to work. Anyhoodle, spoilers plus speculation )

The plot was better this week than in previous episodes. I didn't feel like I was watching a re-hashed episode of Life On Mars. Well, apart from one scene.

It's also frightening how many times I say out loud 'I love this song' when I watch this series. I'm not sure whether I should be concerned more about talking to myself or my taste in music.

Ack, well.
magicallaw: (dw s3: Master - My Faithful companion)
I've just re-watched Walk The Line and nnnggghh; I have much love for that film.

So, I've always liked Johnny Cash. I've always been aware of his songs and known some of them. Then I saw this film a few months ago and he totally Ate My Brain. I had goosebumps for half the time I was watching this. The other half, I was too busy singing and clapping along.

I plan on reading his book when I'm on holiday but I'm scared it might be a tad too depressing for a holiday read. At least with the film, the music sort of helps you get over the depressing stuff. Hey, I said sort of.

John/June is also lots of win, but tbh, it's ALL ABOUT JOHN. The voice, the look, the EVERYTHING.

Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are truly, truly fantastic. Their voices are uncanny in likeness to the real thing. This film makes me want to be June Carter very much. The hair, the voice (again), those dresses. Wow, definitely have a girly crush going on there.

Well, I'd like to be her without having to deal with the having to deal with a drug taking arsehole. But, hey, it worked out all right in the end.

I'm now going to lie in the bath and sing Jackson at the top of my voice to annoy my neighbours.
magicallaw: (dw s3: Master - Eddie Izzard FTW)
So, instead of doing something productive today, I have finally sorted out my Live.Fm account. So, err, here it is:-

And look! I've been listening to stuff.

Not sure who has got an account on there but if you do please feel free to friend me.

It's a bit quiet at the moment.

Is there an Ashes to Ashes comm yet? 'Cos there really needs to be one soon.
magicallaw: (Hot Fuzz: Simon and Nick)
I know the world and his brother have done this already but meh.

Snagged from [ profile] drho.

Don't mock ma tunes. Kthnx.

I was quite upset to see that Tony Wilson sadly died last week. I am a big fan of the majority of the music that we was involved in. That being, Joy Division/New Order, Happy Mondays and the invention of the whole 'Madchester' scene.

So, I decided to watch the film that was made about his life a couple of years ago, Twenty Four Hour Party People. Brit films totally rock and this is no different. If you have any interest in music, please watch this film.

Oh and John Simm is in it - yeah, thought that might get your attention! AND HE ACTUALLY SAYS THE LINE 'WE NEED A DOCTOR IN HERE.' My inner-fangirl had a disco.

Peter Kay is in it too. But he is not wearing a thong and painted green which is bad, but he is very funny.

Most imporantly the soundtrack is kicking.
